On why one would start a blog in the year 2025CE

It’s an absurd choice, isn’t it? An ancient ritual, some archaic glimpse at a bygone era of internet?

To be clear, that’s the point.

I’m fairly young all things considered, but by some graces I can remember the internet before its slow degradation into corporate and generative slop. Certainly I missed what is often called The Golden Age, but I nonetheless remember the decentralization of information – and more potently the ~usefulness~ of information – that the internet used to maintain.

In recent years I can’t help but feel, as I imagine most people do, that the quality of the internet as a service has rapidly diminished. I don’t see how this issue can be resolved, but I do believe that there is value in the creation and continuation of sincere human expression.

So why start a blog well after their heyday? Because it’s fun, frankly. And because regardless of if it’s good, and regardless of if it’s ever read, it is undeniably human. I’m convinced that’s worth something.

A final note, I’ve honestly got no plan for this. I’m going to wing it. My hope is that the topics will be chaotically broad.

Godspeed.
